I’m still confused. You stated that in the eyes of the law once someone drags an illegal fish into the boat it is considered to be in possession and possession of great hammerheads as well as juvenile Goliath grouper are a violation of the law. Could you explain to me why then is it OK to bring snook into the boat for a photo op, when snook — regardless of size — has been closed here on the Gulf and illegal to possess? For that matter, how about all the cute pictures of youngsters holding what are obviously illegal fish such as undersized groupers and snook? I have seen pictures in the WaterLine of tarpon held in the boat without a possession tag; would that not be considered illegal? Should we anglers be fearful that the authorities might want to use pictures of our trophy fish against us? Is there a fine print somewhere that makes it OK to drag an illegal fish into the boat for a photo op? If so, what species are they? What makes it OK to possess snook and not a hammerhead, as both are illegal to possess? I am really confused and need answers.
