The newest chapter of CCA Florida is based in Arcadia. They held their inaugural event, a fundraising banquet, last Friday at Arcadia’s Turner Center. The group’s organizers had been hoping to sell 100 tickets. By the time of the banquet, 120 tickets had been sold, according to CCA Florida regional director Adam Miller. Funds were raised not just through ticket sales but also through raffles and silent and live auctions. Although there are still some numbers to be crunched, Miller says the estimate of the net revenue is just a smidge more than $25,000 — most of which will be used to further conservation initiatives right in the local community. It’s a fantastic start for the fledgling chapter.
