It looks like the North Port High School girls basketball team is able and ready to defend its District 8A-8 championship next week.

The Bobcats rolled over visiting Venice 60-35 Thursday night in North Port’s regular-season finale and senior night. North Port never trailed in the game, as 10 players got in the scoring column. North Port is 17-7 going into the district opener Tuesday night against visiting East Lake. Venice is 8-17.
