Mary Kathryn Heusel died peacefully Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, Fla. She was 93. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob, in 1986.
“Katie” grew up in Detroit, Mich., and attended the University of Michigan, majoring in dental hygiene. She and Bob, who had a 39-year career with the Fisher Body Division of General Motors, were married in 1940 and lived in Detroit, Mich., Flint, Mich.m Columbus, Ohio, Syracuse, N.Y., and Cleveland, Ohio, prior to retiring to St. Petersburg, Fla., and ultimately settling in Nokomis, Fla., in 1983.
Survivors include her son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Barb Heusel, of Madison, Ala., and her daughter, Mary, and son-in-law, Mike Horlick, of Venice, Fla. Katie is also survived by her incredible grandchildren, John (Teri) Heusel, of Alabama, James Heusel, of Colorado, Dave (Shani) Horlick, of Maryland and Michael (Liz) Horlick, of Maryland, as well as her special great-grandchildren Trenton and Mary Kathryn of Alabama, DJ of Georgia and Arcadia of Maryland.
Katie was a such a loving part of the lives of her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed by all.
