Neil E. Cane of Nokomis, formerly of Waltham, Mass., died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, after being stricken at home. He was born Feb. 28, 1924.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, he served as a machinist’s mate on the USS Cross. After the war he met his wife of 66 years, Barbara, and worked at F.S. Payne Elevator Co. and Raytheon in Andover, Mass., before retiring to Florida.

He leaves his wife, Barbara (Geoffrion) Cane; his sons, Neil E. Cane Jr. of Wolfboro, N.H., and Brian and his wife, Sandy, of Waltham; his daughter, Laurie, and her husband, Steven, of Marlborough, Mass.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
