SARASOTA COUNTY — Sarasota County will be contracting with three trapping firms to help remove approximately 2,300 feral hogs from three key areas.

The move is the latest in the county’s efforts to control the invasive feral-hog population, which is known for destroying crops and grass for cattle on properties around the county, as well as destroying habitat, other wildlife and even carrying diseases that could be dangerous to humans.
