SARASOTA COUNTY — When REV3 Triathlon and Sarasota County officials announced last summer that the inaugural REV3 Florida HalfRev Triathlon was coming to South County, they estimated it could bring a $1 million economic impact to the area.
They came up about $400,000 short: A report released this week shows the Oct. 28 event brought in roughly $600,000 to Sarasota and Charlotte counties, citing late registration and impacts from Superstorm Sandy. However, that figure is likely to go up because more exposure already is happening with the event airing on national television and online.
