PORT CHARLOTTE — A New Year’s Eve traffic stop led to the arrest of three people on drug charges, but it was methamphetamine allegedly found inside of a baby’s shoe that really caught the attention of authorities, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Arrested in connection with the incident were Dodie Allyson Albritton, 20, of the 9100 block of S.W. Raccoon Trail, Arcadia; Manuel Angel Rolon, 41, of the 300 block of Fortuna Road, Arcadia; and Bret Alexander Rule, 29, of Myakka City. Rolon and Albritton both were charged with trafficking methamphetamine, child neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rolon was additionally charged with driving with a suspended license, while Rule was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to a report, the silver Mercedes SUV driven by Rolon was spotted driving erratically on Veterans Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. Monday. After being pulled over by authorities, Rolon said his license was suspended three times and a check of the tag showed that it belonged to a white Chevrolet, the report states. A clear white baggy containing a white powder and $790 were found inside of Rolon’s shorts, the report states. When authorities searched Albritton, they found 39.4 grams of meth stuffed into her bra, and Rule was seen hiding a plastic baggy under his thigh in the backseat of the vehicle next to the baby. Rule was found to have .9 grams of methamphetamine in his possession, while Rolon had two grams, the report states. After searching Albritton’s purse, authorities found an additional 1.7 grams of methamphetamine inside of one of the infant’s shoes in the purse. The child was taken into custody by her father, the report states, and according to Department of Children and Families spokeswoman Terri Durdaller, an investigation into the incident is open and ongoing.
