NORTH PORT — About 20 people — from North Port, Venice and Port Charlotte — gathered in the Juliano Room at the North Port Library Saturday to learn more about how to care for feral cats and feral cat colonies humanely.

Sponsored by the Venice Cat Coalition and the Charlotte Cat Coalition, the two-hour workshop titled “Helping Community Cats in Your Own Backyard” featured information about the trap-neuter-release program, caring for outdoor cats, the barn cat program, available resources for kittens, and low-cost spay/neuter options for owned and feral cats.
