PORT CHARLOTTE – When Drew Vettleson was young, he and his dad, Jerry, would hit the batting cages time and time again.
His dad taught him to be versatile as a hitter — that a batter who can hit to all parts of the field, who won’t be fooled when a pitcher throws him inside or outside, is a valuable player. From the time Drew was a 5-year-old playing tee ball, they worked on his swing.
