Dorothy A. “Dottie” Marx, 75, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.

She was the daughter of Charles and Mary Dempster, born June 30, 1937, in Chicago, Ill.

When Walmart first opened their doors on Kings Highway, Dottie’s smile was always there to welcome you. She made many friends over the years, and was even awarded “Employee of the Month.” Dottie was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed fishing, shopping and gathering with her friends.

Dottie will be greatly missed by her son, John Jr.; daughter, Cherie; brother, Marty Dempster; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Griffith; grandchildren, Danielle and Matthew; many nieces; and her wonderful group of friends, especially her beloved friends, Gloria and Vic Caputo. Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John R. Marx; and sister-in-law, Sharon.

A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at American Legion Post 103, 2101 Taylor Road, Punta Gorda. To express condolences to the family, please visit www.Ltaylorfuneral.com and sign the online guestbook.
