Ernestine A. Allen, 100, of Port Charlotte, Fla., went to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.

She was the daughter of Dr. Ernest L. and Adelaide L. (nee Cadogan) Ward, born Nov. 4, 1912, in Osceola, Pa.

Ernestine was a graduate of Osceola Grade School, Elkland High School, and Mansfield State Teacher’s College, class of 1934. During her lifetime she was a church organist, substitute grade and high school teacher, a tutor in area schools, a case worker for child welfare services in Tioga County for the State of Pennsylvania, and Senior Interviewer for Consumer Products Division of Corning Glass Works (Corning, Inc.) from which she retired. Ernestine enjoyed doing needle work, reading, and corresponding with very special friends. She shared her passion of animals with her daughter and grandson.

Ernestine was blessed with having a loving, caring and totally devoted daughter, Mary Ellen; and grandson, Timothy Norman of Port Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Raymond Davidson; and second husband, John W. Allen.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Osceola. Memorial donations may be made to Osceola Presbyterian Church, 104 Church St., Osceola, PA 16942, or a local Humane Society.
