Gwendolyn L. Elcock, 93, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013.

She was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved to this area in 1988 from New Rochelle, N.Y.

Mrs. Elcock was a retired nurse and educator. She received her Master’s Degree in education from Hunter College in New York. Mrs. Elcock was a member and very active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Port Charlotte.

Survivors include her son, Winston of Port Charlotte; brother, Charles Miller of New York, N.Y.; granddaughter, Carmen Elcock of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Elcock may be made to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, to Lighthouse or Community Services, 2036 Loveland Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33980.

Arrangements were made in Port Charlotte.
