Congratulations to Bo Samuels and Dan McLaughlin. The students in the Engineering Tech 1 program at Charlotte Technical Center, who also are enrolled in the Charlotte Aerospace Institute, took part online Friday in the national semifinals of the West Point Bridge Design Competition, according to an email from Chuck Cantieny, drafting instructor at the tech center.

Calling themselves the Cantilevers, the two-man team was among the top 40 teams in the nation invited to compete in the semifinals. Almost 6,000 teams from across the nation submitted bridge designs in the preliminary round.
