Monty’s Restaurant breaks ground
for new building

Diane Caputo, owner of Old Monty’s Restaurant & Pizzeria, has had a picture imbedded in her mind for the past 4 or 5 years. She envisioned moving from her present location, the Punta Gorda Crossing Shopping Center on Tamiami Trail, to their original spot, across the street in an empty lot near Advance Auto Parts.

When Hurricane Charley roared through Punta Gorda in August 2004, Caputo’s Italian eatery, like so many other homes and businesses, was “annihilated.” Caputo was forced to relocate, but she never lost that desire to move back.
