Human trafficking: Know the warning signs

ENGLEWOOD — A large sex-trafficking and prostitution raid in Collier County this week that resulted in 13 arrests and the rescue of 11 women has sparked a discussion locally on spotting the warning signs that people may be being held captive and forced to work illegally.

“Human trafficking is here,” said Vanessa Morris, one of the founders of Buy Her Back, an Englewood-based fundraising support group that helps agencies work to free human-trafficking victims. “It might be under the veil of prostitution or a massage parlor or agriculture work, or it might be an ad on Craigslist, but it is absolutely here.”
