PORT CHARLOTTE — A local man was arrested Thursday on charges he beat his pregnant girlfriend, threatened to harm her if she testified against him, and then forced her to have sex with him a month ago, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report.

Arrested was Derik Markeese Davis, 20, of the 21100 block Meehan Avenue. He was charged with 13 counts, including two counts each of tampering with witnesses, aggravated battery on a victim whom he knew or should have known was pregnant, and felony battery; along with one count each of violation of a condition of pretrial release, burglary with assault or battery, sexual assault, throwing a missile into a dwelling, grand theft, resisting arrest and failure to appear.
