Cheryl Grafton
Cheryl (nee Mathews) Bridgers-Grafton, 66, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and formerly of Braintree, Mass., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.
She was the daughter of John and Katherine (nee Wright) Mathews, born July 29, 1946, in Brockton, Mass.
Cheryl worked in office administration for the General Motors Parts Division for 30 years before retiring. Her community involvement included volunteering with the Humane Society, the VA Hospital, and 10 years with the Punta Gorda Police Department; she generously supported Crossroads for Boys, Toys for Tots, The Salvation Army and many others. Cheryl enjoyed playing card games with friends, planning and hosting parties, and sharing her delicious baked goods with all. She liked yard sales, entertaining visitors, and traveling with her husband, especially on trips to Las Vegas. Cheryl was a member of Congregational United Church.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 11 years, Vincent; daughter, Lisa (Dennis) Jessick of Massachusetts; son, John (Suzanne) Bridgers of Massachusetts; stepsons, Paul Grafton and Edward (Bonnie) Grafton; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Bonnie Brandi and Linda Eason.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Cheryl’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Congregational United Church in Punta Gorda. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cheryl’s memory may be made to John M. Mathews Scholarship Fund, c/o BHS, 348 Pond St., Braintree, MA 02184.
