Madge “Polly” Ethelyne Bird departed this life on February 1, 2013 after battling a long illness.

She was born on July 3, 1944 in Giles County, Virginia to the late Emmette and Helen Bradley.

She married the love of her life, Townsend D. Bird, in 1966 and together they raised a family in Virginia until 1985 when they retired and moved to Port Charlotte, Florida.

She is survived by her husband of nearly forty-seven years and their four children: William “Bill” Bird and his wife Daina, of Port Charlotte, Florida; Shelly Carter and her husband Steve, of Waynesboro, Virginia; Emmette Bird and his wife Evonne, of Floyd County, Virginia; and Travis Bird and his wife Kristin, of Fredericksburg, Virginia. She is also survived by two aunts: Kaye Dunford and Ruth McDowell both of Virginia. Lastly, Polly is survived by six loving grandchildren: Ryan, Caitlin, Brandon, Lindsey, Mackenzie, and Avery.

Funeral arrangements have not been made at this time.
