Danny Colin Monroe

Danny Colin Monroe, 61, passed away surrounded by family and love Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, following a courageous 10-month battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 27, 1951, in Washington, D.C., to Dan Kelly Monroe and Mary Kriso.

Danny moved to Port Charlotte, Fla., in 1987, where he had since resided. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by many.

Danny is survived by his wife of 32 years, Georgia Lynn Monroe; children, Kelly Danielle Monroe, Heather Lynn (Shane) Ashley and David Regis Simko; grandchildren, Tristan Aaron Daniel Flaherty, Page Alexander Ashley, Kiera Lyn Ashley, Nevik Robert Ashley and Erin Marie Simko; six brothers; and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two siblings.

There will be a celebration of life held for Danny from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Gilchrist Park in Punta Gorda, Fla. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Georgia Monroe, 21034 Gladis Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Arrangements are by ICS Cremation and Funerals Inc.
