Richard Ruppert, regional vice president of Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union, recently presented a check for $2,600 from the Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union Foundation to Shawn Smith, Dollywood Foundation affiliate and community champion for the Charlotte County Imagination Library. The donation will provide more than 100 preschool children with a book, mailed to their homes, each month for a year. The Charlotte County Imagination Library is an affiliate of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and since 2012 has provided more than 10,000 books to preschool children in Charlotte County. For more information, visit www.charlottecountyimaginationlibrary.org. Witnessing the presentation are Doug Whittaker, superintendent of Charlotte County Public Schools; and Christine Dollinger, CCPS coordinator of state and federal programs.

J ohn Davidson, the executive director of AMIKids Crossroads, got in touch to let everyone know Doug Gorman and Charlotte Used Car Central donated an Oldsmobile to the foster care program for one of its kids aging out of foster care.

Jill Ferguson, who took part with me in the Leadership Charlotte class of 2013, had been working with Doug as part of the class, which raised more than $40,000 for both AMIKids Crossroads and the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition.
