Boil water advisory for residents between Ortiz and River Road

NORTH PORT — A boil water advisory is in effect due to a 16-inch water line break for the area between Ortiz Boulevard to River Road along U.S. 41.

Residents in this area, as a precaution, should boil water for consumption during the next 72 hours. It is suggested that all customers boil their water intended for drinking or cooking at a rolling boil for a minimum of one minute. Customers should boil their water until further notice. As an alternative, bottled water can be used. A 16-inch water line break occurred and water was shut off for 28 minutes, which caused the boil water advisory. North Port Utilities is fixing the break. The city of North Port will post a “rescission of the boil water notice” on its website at www.cityofnorthport.com when the advisory has been lifted. The rescission will be posted the same way as this notification. After service is resumed, residents will be asked to open their faucets for a few minutes to clear their water lines. Do not use the water for washing clothes until the water is running clear. North Port Utilities will be taking multiple samples throughout the service area as a precaution to confirm that the distribution system remains in compliance. For more information, call 941-240‐8000.
