PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit detectives arrested a man who was babysitting two people’s children Monday and charged him with sexual battery on a 5-year-old girl whome he was watching. Arrested was Justo Ortiz Colon, 27, of Port Charlotte. CCSO responded to Peace River Regional Medical Center at 6:43 p.m. in regard to sexual touching of a child. At the hospital, the mother of the child said her daughter told her she was touched in her vaginal area by Colon, who is known to them. The mother told Colon to get out of the house, and then took her child to the hospital to be checked.

After a forensic interview and medical examination, MCU detectives learned that the child suffered a laceration and abrasions to her vaginal area consistent with being touched inappropriately. Colon was located and met with detectives about the incident. He denied touching the girl in her vaginal area. Based on the evidence, Colon was arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail, where he is being held on no bond.
