SARASOTA COUNTY — Sarasota County commissioners on Tuesday extended the contracts of four vendors responsible for mowing the county’s rights of way through April.

The county’s mowing problems came to light earlier this year, when former vendor Bloomings Landscape & Turf Inc. of Sarasota was fined $6,700 for delays in mowing rights of way, a large portion of which lie in South County. County officials say the company violated the terms of its $1.8 million annual contract to maintain 2,000-plus acres by falling behind in certain areas.
