Boil-water advisory continues
The boil-water notice Charlotte County Utilities officials announced Friday for Port Charlotte customers is still in effect, according to an updated press release CCU issued Saturday. All residents from Collingswood Boulevard to the eastern part of the county, and south to Charlotte Harbor, need to continue to boil all of their water for drinking or cooking. CCU plans to send out an updated notice once the agency is able to verify the water’s safety.
All customers in the affected area should bring their water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, CCU advises. “Should boiling of water not be possible,” the release states, “tap water can be disinfected by adding eight drops of unscented household bleach to each gallon of water, then mixing the water and allowing it to stand for a minimum of 30 minutes.”
