North Port man dies in Venice crash
VENICE — A North Port man died Friday morning after experiencing a medical condition while driving in Venice. According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Ronald Alan Long, 58, was driving his 2000 Ford E250 north on Timberline Boulevard just before 9 a.m., approaching Southern Pine Circle.
As Long made a right turn onto Southern Pine Circle, he appeared to have an unknown medical issue, causing his truck to leave the road and travel toward a home in the street’s 5000 block, striking the house, the report states. Long, who was wearing his seatbelt, was taken to Venice Regional Hospital for his injuries, where he was pronounced dead.
