PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman for stealing $467 in items from Kohl’s Department Store, 19600 Cochran Boulevard, and also found methamphetamine in her purse. Arrested was Paula Ann Chierico, 41, of the 24400 block of Tangerine Avenue, Port Charlotte. Kohl’s security called CCSO at 4 p.m. Wednesday after it witnessed a woman select multiple items from racks and filled her shopping cart, including a set of $80 bed sheets. Security watched as the woman took the bed sheets to the customer service desk and fraudulently returned them. She received store credit for the sheets. She then pushed the cart to checkout and paid for several items in her shopping cart, but did not attempt to pay for all of the items. She exited the store without paying for three pairs of Nike shoes, a J-Lo sweater and dress, and Angel jeans.

Security detained her until deputies arrived. A search was made of Chierico’s purse and deputies found methamphetamine. She was transported to the Charlotte County Jail and charged with several offenses. She posted a $6,000 bond and was released.
