Robert L. Martin, 85, of North Port, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.

He was the son of Oscar and Roxie (nee Brundage) Martin, born June 3, 1927, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was the former General Manager of the Iowa Oaks, Triple A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and moved to this area from Des Moines, Iowa in 2002. Robert enjoyed sports and going fishing.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 30 years, Marjorie; daughter, Vicky; step-daughters, Linda Allen of Dunnellon, Fla., Sandra Morris of Waukee, Iowa, Shari Leo of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jeri Schrimper of Cedar Rapid, Iowa; son, Rick; step-sons, Michael Kerr of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Steven Kerr of Chandler, Ariz.; two grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and four-legged companion, Riley.
