The women's bathroom at the Warm Minerals Springs Day Spa is moldy. City and county commissioners received a letter this week from an attorney for Dr. Grigory Pogrebinsky, the new 12-month operator of the day spa, stating he wants the two governments to make repairs such as removing mold and repairing leaks before the facility can reopen.

NORTH PORT — Before the Warm Mineral Springs Day Spa can reopen, issues — including fixing the septic system and leaky roofs, and removing algae buildup and alligators from the property — must be addressed, according to the new operator.

A letter this week from attorney Kevin Russell, representing Dr. Grigory Pogrebinsky and WMS Sarasota Management LLC, which last month won the short-term, 12-month bid to operate the Springs, states they want the city of North Port and Sarasota County to make repairs quickly in order to reopen later this month. The city and the county, which jointly own the 81-acre day spa, eventually will work on a long-term plan to operate the Springs.
