Beginning today, eligible Floridians required to obtain health insurance under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, can register with the Health Insurance Marketplace, an online database of available health plans in their communities.
Locally, federal counselors recruited by the Health Planning Council of Southwest Florida known as “navigators” will help with enrollment in Sarasota, Charlotte and DeSoto counties. The counselors will help people navigate the eligibility requirements and forms needed to purchase policies that are available through the marketplace, sometimes referred to as a health insurance “exchange.”
