Commercial zone talks to include residents

NORTH PORT — The future of the city’s commercial zones could change following a Friday workshop by city officials who believe that residents should be involved in the conversation of what they want built in their neighborhoods.

City commissioners focused on “down zoning,” or the idea of changing the intensity of use in North Port’s commercial zones, during the first half of their workshop, deciding that conversations with both developers and residents should be the next step.
