NORTH PORT — At the January Team Party of Relay for Life of North Port, Team Friends and Family was recognized for being the first team to reach the Bronze fundraising level of $2,500 or more. In February, it was announced that Friends and Family had already reached Gold level, having raised more than $5,000. Friends and Family has thus far raised more than $7,500. Other teams who have reached Bronze level are the North Port Angels and AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary. The Glenallen Elementary team has reached Rising Star Level, having raised more than $1,000.

This year’s local overnight Relay for the American Cancer Society is set for May 4-5, beginning at 3 p.m. May 4 for opening ceremonies at North Port High School. The overall ACS theme for this year is “Dream Big, Hope Big, Relay Big,” and building on that, the local theme is “It’s a Relay Big World.” Each team will choose a country to represent.
