Dignitaries break ground for Venetian Walk, a mixed income development going up in the background. A 61-unit, four story senior housing building will go up first in phase I. Phase II family units are also planned. Area leaders broke ground Friday on a housing complex called Venetian Walk — the first public housing in South County in four years.

The first phase will cater to low-income seniors in need, and the work is underway. The more than $20 million Phase 1 project will include 61 apartments for seniors in need.
