FROM THE NPPD: The North Port Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau is actively investigating an incident that involves a prowler in the North Chamberlain Boulevard area. In the past several weeks, the suspect, described as a white male wearing all-dark clothing, has been peeping through windows, apparently targeting young female teenagers.

On Thursday, Feb. 7, the NPPD received a reported sexual battery case involving a 12-year-old girl by an unknown perpetrator. At this time, it is unknown if this case is related to the prowler incidents; however, it did occur in a vicinity of where the prowler was seen. As a reminder, police are asking citizens to report any suspicious persons and activity as our investigators are diligently working the prowler and sexual battery case. This is all the information available at this time. If you have any information on this case, contact NPPD Detective Brian Chippendale at 941-429-7330 or bchippendale@northportpd.com. Callers may also use the NPPD Tip line at 941-429-7382 or call 941-366-TIPS (8477). Informants can text TIP109 plus a message to CRIMES (274637).
