NORTH PORT — Morgan Matson, author of “Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour,” sat at a table in the North Port High School media center Wednesday, surrounded by students.

Matson, 31, from California, was at NPHS as part of a celebration of Florida Literacy Week. Her first novel — she has since published a second and is working on her third in the young adult genre — “Epic Detour” was chosen this year as one of 15 Florida Teens Read selections.
