NORTH PORT — Ten finalists for the annual North Port Citizen of the Year contest have been named, but there is one name not on the list.

Sam George, initially a nominee, has declined the honor, believing the annual contest to honor a top citizen should be decided in a different manner, and that the current selection process is flawed.
