Emergency grounds
Punta Gorda-bound flight
PUNTA GORDA — An Allegiant Airlines flight from South Bend, Ind., to Punta Gorda was diverted to make an emergency landing in Fort Wayne, Ind., Friday afternoon, after a warning light signaled there was a fire in the cargo bay, local airport officials said.
No fire was found and no one was injured. But the problem temporarily grounded the plane’s
149 passengers, according to Scott Hinderman, executive director of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority.
