Rollover wreck in Venice injures four
VENICE — Four people, including two children, were hurt Wednesday morning when the SUV they were riding in flipped over several times on Border Road.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Vanessa Marie Ball, 32, was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer west on Border Road in Venice. Shortly after 8 a.m., the SUV veered off the roadway. Ball reportedly swerved left into the eastbound lane and overcorrected, causing the Explorer to spin around, overturn several times and hit a tree on the side of the road. Ball and her passenger, Juan R. Villa-Gomez, 30, both of Venice, were taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg with serious injuries, the report shows. Two children, a 9-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, were treated at Venice Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. Everyone was wearing a seat belt except Villa-Gomez, the report shows. Charges are pending.
