NORTH PORT — All 1,000 seats available in the North Port Performing Arts Center have been reserved for Saturday’s MythBusters event, where show co-hosts Grant Imahara and Kari Byron will address area students, their families and community members about careers in the sciences.

On past episodes of the Discovery Channel show, which airs at 8 p.m. Sundays, they have analyzed whether you can really smell fear, dropped cars from cranes, invited a World Series champion pitcher to try to throw a needle through a piece of glass, and tested the best preservative for live Christmas trees. Along with fellow team member Tory Belleci, they investigate different myths from the show’s stars, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, the original MythBusters.
