Soprano Deborah Berioli sings the role of Cio-Cio San in the Venice Performing Arts Series’ presentation of “Madama Butterfly” Sunday.

In the classic love story, Cio-Cio San weds Benjamin Franklin Pinkerton (Christopher Culpepper), an American sailor stationed in Nagasaki. She remains true to him even when he returns to the United States where he weds Kate (Kathleen Crane).
