Cracker Country is a great freebie for visitors to the annual Florida State Fair which continues through Feb. 18.
Admission is free to fairgoers who will see re-eanactor blacksmiths, rope makers, bakers and others in and around 13 buildings that include a sugar cane mill, a house dating to the 1870s, an old corn crib, a cemetery, church and 1912-era schoolhouse. There is a hands-on farm, kitchen garden, smoke house, old post office, general store and the Okahumpka Train Depot. Buildings were moved to the site from many places in Florida. They have been restored and furnished according to their age and history.
