“Intimate Apparel” is the stuff of Stage II at Venice Theatre.

The turn-of-the-century drama by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage opens tomorrow in the 90-seat Pinkerton Theatre at Venice Theatre. The black-box layout has proven perfect for any number of shows over the years. Depending on the topic, audiences have been placed in any number of configurations designed to make them part of a cabaret setting, in the round to catch every nuance of action in a living room, on either side of a road and even in a swamp that might be home to “Alligators,” as well as in traditional theater seating before the stage.
