Lemon Bay Fest (Englewood history with zest!) offers area residents and visitors many exciting reasons to celebrate Englewood’s rich history and amazing treasures. The week-long event begins with “The Case of the Doctored Drink” presented at
2:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 by the Suncoast Players at the Historic Green St. Church. A complete calendar can be downloaded at www.lemonbayfest.com. Brochures are available at Elsie Quirk Library, 100 W. Dearborn St., Englewood and at most Englewood businesses. Call Elsie Quirk Library, 941-861-5000 or Englewood Charlotte Library, 941-681-3736 for detailed information.

“Elsie Quirk Library Reference Librarian Pat Lewis organized the first Lemon Bay Fest in 2003,” explained this year’s Chairman, Information Services Librarian, Toni Hopper, who took over when Lewis retired in 2006. “The Lemon Bay Historical Society coordinated the first Cracker Fair and most programs were held at Elsie Quirk Library. Now, both Englewood Libraries’ friends and business groups support programs.”
