The Highlanders soared above the Eagles in this past Friday’s football game, Lake Wales defeated Jenkins (17-0). Highlander Justin Henderson opened up the game sprinting
50 yards to give the Highlanders their first points on the scoreboard. Jonte Sergeant had a big night, as well landing 10 tackles against Jenkins. Tate Mathewson helped the Highlanders on the scoreboard leading in field goal kicks, and Railond Garrett finished off the game with a final touchdown for the victory. The Highlanders are 2-2 at the break of the season and only getting better, stay tuned.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Many sports teams are joining in the spirit and wearing pink uniforms to support the men and women who have survived breast cancer. Get involved, and support both your favorite sports team and a great cause by wearing pink this month.

Get ready: The Highlanders set sail with the new Lake Wales pram team. Their season began Sept. 23, and will be in motion for eight weeks. The team only competes on Sundays and will be hosting events at Lake Wailes. See you there.

Have a great weekend. Until next time, that is all for this week in sports. Athletes, parents, coaches and fans, I leave you with a quote:

“The ultimate aim of the ego is not to see something, but to be something.”
