On Saturday, Oct. 6, at about 9:20 a.m.,
Lake Wales Police were dispatched to 508 Wales Dr. in reference to a stolen car. Upon arrival, police met with the victim, who said her black 1995 Honda Civic was at the location on Sept. 21, 2012, but she discovered it was gone. The woman said she left the vehicle at the location, which was her old house that is currently unoccupied, but she is still the owner. The woman told police that the vehicle was not registered and did not have a license tag because the car was no longer operational.
Police discovered the car had been towed by ABC Towing, according to reports, located in Orlando. The vehicle was towed from Wiltshire Ave. West in Lake Wales on Sept. 29, 2012, and listed as an abandoned vehicle. When police called ABC Towing, they were advised that someone had called on Sept. 29 and requested the vehicle be towed away. ABC told police, reports note, that they responded to Spook Hill Rd. in Lake Wales and removed the vehicle and stored it at their location in Orlando. There is no Spook Hill Road. in Lake Wales, however, Spook Hill Elementary is located near North Wales Drive, where the vehicle was last seen. The case is still under investigation.
