Police report scam in email

The Lake Wales Police Department released this and other photos of a person they believe is connected to the robbery of an 84-year-old woman on Saturday. The photo came from video surveillance where the victim's credit card was used.

According to a press release from the Lake Wales Police Department, on July 23, Deputy Chief Troy Schulze received an email and he immediately recognized it as a scam. It came from the “Message Center” and was titled “Troy, Lake Wales Police Department has sent you a gift.” The email read as follows, according to police:
“Dear Troy, On behalf of Lake Wales Police Department you have been issued a $1,000 Visa Gift Card free of charge.
