Apartment burglarized
On Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 1:16 p.m., Lake Wales Police were called to a burglary complaint. Upon arrival, police met with the victim, who told them that on Jan. 24 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., an unknown person entered his apartment without permission. The victim said the apartment was secured with the door locked and windows closed, noting there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment. Police note the victim was missing 8 XBox games,
3 PSP games, and an air soft pistol from his apartment. The victim noted this was strange, as several of the games were buried under empty game cases that did not appear to be disturbed. The victim said the PSP games were inside a plastic box inside one of the bedrooms, which was left open. The victim also told police the suspect’s behavior when taking these games was strange also, because they left the game which did not work, but was not obviously broken. Police note the black air soft gun that was taken was in the room with the PSP games, and observed about five air soft pistols and rifles in the victim’s closet where the victim said the others were missing. The victim told police the suspect also went through the ammunition magazines that were in a box in the closet, picked the one to match the missing pistol, and left all the other air soft guns behind. The games missing were Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Rockband 3, DJ Hero 2, The Way of the Samurai 3, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcorn 3, Gladiator Begins, Final Fantasy, and Ghost in the Shell. According to reports, neighbors told police there were always teenagers and children running up and down the stairs of the apartments, but no one saw anyone enter the apartment. The case is still under investigation.
Vacant Rental Property Burglarized
On Wednesday, Jan. 25, Lake Wales Police were called to a burglary complaint at a vacant rental property. The victim advised police that an unknown suspect had stolen copper wire from underneath his vacant rental property. The suspect(s) also entered the residence through the rear entry door, and removed four interior and two exterior window frames from the residence.
Total value of the property is estimated at $373, police note. The victim said his property was secured on
Dec. 11, 2011 and noted he discovered the burglary on Jan. 25, 2012. The case is still under investigation.
Theft Reported
On Wednesday, Jan. 25, police were dispatched to a theft complaint at an apartment. The victim advised police that she discovered her computer missing from her residence when she arrived home at around 4:30 p.m., adding that her apartment was secure and there were no signs of forced entry. The victim said her boyfriend was at the apartment all day and noted she had not been able to reach him. The computer is described as an HP integrated computer/monitor and keyboard valued at around $1,000. The victim said she had gotten the computer about two weeks earlier from Rent King and deposited $94 on it. Reports note she had not made any other payments on the computer.
