Winifred T. “Wynn” Hughes, 89, of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Grace Health Care.

She was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Tallahassee to the late William C. and Winnie Tully; she came here from Tallahassee in 1963.

She was a homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church. She was an artist, enjoyed painting, playing golf and volunteered at various civic groups over the years. She was a member of the Lake Wales Country Club and was an avid FSU fan.

Winifred was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Hughes, four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Barnhardt of Lake Wales; sons, David R. Hughes of Lake Wales and James W. “Jimmy” Hughes (Jean) of Havana; five grandchildren, Dale Hughes, Brett Barnhardt, Chad Barnhardt, Holly Hughes and Heather Hughes; and five great-grandchildren, Quintin, Hunter, Hayden, Kelsey and Pyper.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales.

Funeral service is 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.

Marion Nelson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
