Verna Madden, 84, of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Winter Haven Hospital.

She was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Buckley, Ill., to the late John Henry & Frieda Rust.

She came here from Milwaukee, Wisc., 20 years ago. She was a member of the Lake Wales Lutheran Church, a great homemaker and seamstress and was very creative. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Dick Madden; two daughters, Bonnie Kae and Edward Tekampe of Valrico and Sandra Gail and Frank Nagle of Milton; two sisters, Dorothy Karr of Cissna Park, Ill., and Marlene Deerwester of Terre Haute, Ind.; two brothers, Wayne Rust and Earl Rust both of Illinois; and three grandchildren, Edward Jr., Andrew and Stephanie.

Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the Lake Wales Lutheran Church, 640 S. Scenic Highway, Lake Wales, with Dr. John Glamann.

A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Lake Wales Care Center, 140 E. Park Ave., Lake Wales, FL 33853.
