C. Terry Turner, 97, of Lake Wales passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2012.

He was born on Oct. 5, 1914 in Trenton, Ga., to the late Leila and Claude Turner and moved to Lake Wales from Chattanooga, Tenn. in 1937.

Retired from Citrus World’s personnel department after 40 years of service and was a member of the First Christian Church.

His interest included the family’s Cherokee heritage, Civil War history, listening to Big Band music and watching a good football game or tennis match.

Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Turner in 1998.

Survivors include his sister Leila Guider; sons, Robert Turner of Glen Arbor, Mich. and David Turner of Lake Wales; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial service is 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Children’s Home, Inc., P.O. Box 262229, Tampa, Fla. 33685-2229 or Lake Aurora Christian Camp, Lake Wales.

Marion Nelson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

This was a very thoughtful and giving man. Although I was only his lawn service he would make a point of coming out and saying hello every week. Am really going to miss the phone calls at the holidays. God was and is in your heart Mr. Turner You will be missed.
